My director of High school instruction made that statement to me soon after
she hired me. I retorted "It's a good thing you hired me when you did"!!! I
get a chuckle from this statement. The kids don't EVER have a chance to use
it on me because I start each year with a tell me what you DON"T know test.
I spend the first week of school going over every tool I have for them to use
and having them demo for me. From drawing a straight line (that IS why God
invented rulers, ya know) to squeezing out a sponge to wipe down the table,
to using a compass. They also have to take notes, so when they say cant, I
say take out your folder...............saves ooodles of time. This test
started out with 20 questions. This year it was up to 50 and I've have
encounter a few "you never asked that question, questions. These will be
added next year!
So when people tell you " oh, I can't draw a straight line" just smile and
think to yourself, "what an idiot!"
peace on the straight and narrow
