Red glazes usually need to be fired lower than the other glazes. They also
tend to need a fast firing.
You can reglaze if you heat the pieces up.
The lack of shine sounds odd. Are the kiln elements old? This can produce
an uneven temperature in the kiln.
Are you sure you are using "glazes" and not "underglazes"? Underglazes tend
not to get shiny at all.
