Janice...it looks like you did this while you were student teaching...right?
Are you at a high school...or middle school? Where...just curious.

Hey Carolyn,
Yes I am doing it now while student teaching. I am at a high school in
Mississippi. It is Art 1 grades 9-12. I go to a middle school next. Half
of the students will present tomorrow and the other half on Wed. It has been
a chore to get them pumped up for the presentation, but they chose to do a
verbal presentation over a hand written test. I think it will be good and
they will actually learn some art history by seeing each other present. In
order to get them to listen and be respectful while each group is presenting,
I will tell them they will be asked some questions. I will get each group to
ask the audience (classmates) questions about what they just presented to see
if they were listening. I will also have them critique themselves and their
other group members to see how they rate the production of the art piece.
Some did not put much effort while others did most of the work. Even though
it was a group project they will be graded separately (production and
presentation). I will also have each one write down as much information as
they can about the artist and the painting they did. This will give me
something to use to justify the grade on the presentation. I am glad it will
all be over Wed. but looking forward to the finale.
Janice
