I used to use corn starch for papier mache. If I remember right, you
cooked it perhaps 3:1 water to starch, until it made a pretty firm jelly
type blob...It lasted about two weeks before it went totally nasty, the
most colorful molds and fungi I have seen in a while.
It dried slowly, but when it was dry, it was very hard.
Maybe someone else has the exact receipe.
