Theory on supplies, I have built the word 'expendable' into each
conversation about supplies. The administration needs to know that once you
use the paper, the paint, etc, it is gone~! I even invited them in to see
the bare coffers. Our district is wierd in that we have to budget our
supplies BEFORE kids sign up for the courses (and that is now for next
September--although we 'ordered' our supplies last September '99 for
September '00~go figure). We over- order by about 50%, they have a heart
attack, and cut back 35%-50%, and well you get how the game is played. Over
the years I have learned to make somethin' out of nuthin' like the rest of
us, and if you come into my tiny tiny art room with no storage you would see
a corner full of cardboard given to me by the electricians who unpacked the
'security mirrors' to hang in the hall. I have essentially 'trained'
everyone to 'dump' the stuff in my room BEFORE it goes to the dumpster!
