The best source of topics around character is the local newspaper.
Derrick Thomas "58" of the Kansas City Chiefs was given a great,
passionate send off by lots of folks around the country. He was
a great football player and let community efforts to get kids to
read and stay in school. But it turns out there are several women
out there and several children that had a father in name only. They got
to watch him on TV and see him on holidays. That is material for any lesson
on morals and values don't you think. Just clip and copy the paper from
time to time and have a discussion on values. Kids are sharp, they know
what's right if given a chance to voice it.
