    I guess I am not sure what APA is...but my first thought on environment...is
    that of being safe...... Safe from rude remarks from other students, safe to
    work without accidents happening on their work and safe to express their
    ideas within expected guidelines. All of that happens with a certain amount
    of structure. They need to know and want to know procedures and that there
    is consistency. OFten our thoughts about creating a expressive room tends
    to actually defeat itself when we don't have a good structure in place. My
    students even shut the door when the band is squeaking away...they hate the
    noise interuption and not being able to concentrate on their work....It needs
    to be calm.and yet independence because they understand the structure.
