What was I thinking??? I have this great resource of art teachers and yet I
agonize in solitude. I am taking the second course in my efforts toward my
masters. I am enrolled in a creative problem solving course offered by the
creative studies department. One of my requirements is to write a paper in
"APA" style on a selected topic involving aspects of creativity. I selected
the "environment" domain and I am writing about the characteristics of a
creative classroom.
Naturally, there are little things I do in my own room to foster creativity,
differ judgment and otherwise make the kids feel okay about being
themselves. Spilled paint = "I knew painting was going to be messy, are
there an helpers?" A wrong answer, but art related = "I can tell you are
thinking about art, but can you think about the information related to
....." I use strategies like that.
Are there any devices teachers here use to foster a creative classroom? How
do you invite the children to the art room? I read about the review tactics
of one teacher. That really gets their minds geared toward art and focused
on the topics.
This is broad in scope, I realize. But maybe someone knows what I am
talking about, especially since the art room is a known refuge for many
students. I am interested in allowing kids to be themselves. There are
strategies of lesson presentation, tests and overall environment. What
elements are you constructing to invite all the children?
respectfully,
