Bunki...we have been told how to do this kind of drill, both during
class time and non-class time. Ours is similar to yours, doors that
only lock from the outside, doors that have no vision opening, so there
is no way to tell if there is a gun person or a poor student outside
with out opening the doors. We also have little signs that we are
supposed to put in the windows...one side says HELP! and the other says
OK. Now in my room, the windows are covered on the outside with metal
shutters, which are supposed to be closed, so how I am supposed to
display this sign, is beyond me. We do have phones, but in the event
the lines are cut....
Our campus is wide open to the world, and we do have some very strange
people walk across it on their way to the WorkFare project at the
Community College next to us. But these drills, which we have yet to
have, seem a little excessive.
We had hidden children at the last firedrill, and as they were hidden in
my room, I can testify that no one found them until halfway into the
period after the drill. And we are all supposed to take roll during the
drill and then hold up our help signs!
I hope they have the terrorist drill while I am still out.
