everything... and not by memorizing it!

    Here's a little informal brainstorm...not elegant.
I want them to know they can use art to express themselves for themselves
or for others. I want them to know that it is a universal language that
has been, is, and will be used throughout history to commmunicate
intentionally or unintentionally with others of their culture and time, and
for those in others. I want them to understand that anything in their
world can have a relationship with art, a connection, an avenue of
dialogue. That a picture can be worth a thousand words, if you know how
to read pictures. And of course, all the other important things like the
skills to be able to communicate through a visual language to their fullest
potential. And all the National Standards stuff. THere are so many
functions and concepts to explore. Theres so much I want them to
know...but most importantly, I want them to know HOW to learn, HOW to see,
HOW to analyze, HOW to use, and HOW to see multiple perspectives of art.
That way they can keep on doing it for life.

(good question, we should ask ourselves this often!)
