I have been student teaching High School and some of the students are still
immature. I can't tell you how many times I had to stop them from using the
rulers like a sword or a knife. I am so glad we are done with the measuring
part. If you must buy rulers, get metal ones. These students also break
things on purpose. I guess you can tell I have had a rough time. Thank
goodness those type of kids only account for about 5%. I am still very glad
to have brought out the rulers because they really learned a lot. We made a
grid over a small image and they had to enlarge it onto a larger surface. It
took a lot of multiplication and division and I was surprised to see how many
did not know how to do this. Good luck.
