Elizabeth go to the archives
http://www.artsednet.getty.edu/education/teacherartexchange/Search/index.html
type in tessellation
type in escher
and click artsednet archives under select a category
there are 132 entries on tessellation and 193 entries on escher. I
myself have sent lessons and web sites to the list the past few
years. I'm busy with an african project I'm doing tomorrow and don't
have time to forward lessons right now.
The easiest thing is to get a square piece of fun foam and cut one
side and tape it to the other, or glue it to a piece of cardboard
and then print the "fish etc." into each other alternating colors.
They can also do the same thing with tag board and colored pencils
or markers.
