I fire burnished pottery at 06 or 05 and still retain the 'polished'
surface. Looks great and gives a unique appearance that can't be duplicated
with glaze. I also, at times, do burnishing with incised designs. After the
bisque fire, glaze is applied to the incised areas only and the rest is
wiped off with a damp sponge and then fired again. It still retains the
'polished' appearance. But still wish I could pit fire!
