Argh. Frustration is beginning to settle in again. I have this class
that no matter what I do, they don't understand the project. I have given
large/small group and individual demonstrations. I give handouts on the
procedure as well as write it on the board. I have had the students show me
how to do it, repeat the directions, show other students how to do it. And I
am running out of options. I down to two options: lower the project grade
level (do elementry projects at the junior high level) or find a teaching
strategy which will work.
I am desperately looking for as many methods as possible, hoping that
one will work. Any ideas?
The way I can tell that I am not getting through is in their work. After
I sit down with a student and go step by step, walk away and come back, the
student somehow forgets everything I told him or her. For instance, coloring
a checkerboard design. Could not do it. I even went on some students papers
and put little x's where the square needed to be colored. Still did not
work! Argh! Any insight would be great...Thanks! :)
