Dear Netters,
The following were sent over the weekend, but apparently didn't make it
though. I'm trying again.
For those of you looking for authentic resources try the Library of
Congress American Memory page (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/amhome.html) You
can search for photos, essays, etc. I went to the photo collection and
entered Indians in the search box and came up with some cool stuff.
ArtCrimes ( http://www.graffiti.org/ ) is a valuable resource for
learning what is being done 'on the streets'. I wish they hadn't named
the site 'crimes' because that seems to tarnish the artistic value of
the works. This may be a good resource for that street smart young
person who loves to tag (or for those of us who lead very sheltered
lives and are never exposed to this kind of art!).
