I am on my school district's equity committee. We are also looking for
ways to bring equity issues into our elementary school. I look to
artists who have dealt with these issues and talk about them to
students. One of my favorites is Picasso's Guernica. We talk about
Romare Beardon and his expression of his culture. Juane Quick to See
Smith deals with equality issues regarding the Native American culture.
Maya Lin deals with equality and values in her sculptural architectural
monuments both the wall and the Civil Rights memorial in Montgomery,
Alabama
