The discussion about art shows has got me thinking, again. I wrote a while
back, but now that our "big" show (at a mall) is coming up pretty soon, I'm
developing more concerns.
When you're displaying 2-D work such as drawings, do you cover them with
acetate or something to try to protect them? Our students will not be able
to be there during the whole week-long exhibit and I have concerns about
possible damage or vandalism.
Can someone suggest a really good way to display handmade papers? At this
point I'm thinking of wrapping each sheet (and they're pretty stiff) in
acetate. We've got some very cool papers--some with embedded leaves (and
the student who made these went back and subtly highlighted the veins with
gold leaf paint--no pun intended!), some with embedded photographs, etc.
Is there anything else I should be aware of when it comes to exhibiting in a
very public place? By the way, I love some of the ideas for displaying work
that have been mentioned--on painted branches, on cut-out silhouettes, etc.
