thought about buying a digital video camera. The salesman at Best Buy
suggested that it would be too delicate to hand over to students for their
use. What do you think?

We have a digital camera in my school (elementary). Used to be one teacher
using it. I haven't seen it in use since he left.
My friend, a fourth grade teacher in another town, borrows the school digital
camera for projects and field trips. The students use it all the time and
then make slide shows and presentations, using AVID Cinema (another thing we
don't have).
As long as your students are trained, why not let them use it?
