    Welcome although I haven't posted to you. I leave clay questions to
    the experts. However I wanted to welcome you to the list the same
    and also respond to the French question:

    True they do want to here that you will attempt the language and not
    be arrogant it assuming they will understand English. I also heard a
    travel show last week on NPR and it was about this subject,one of
    their experts was french and taught basic french lessons for 8 hours
    or 36 etc. just for traveling occasions and also gave a tip to plan
    your trip to include one day for you to take a class in a foreign
    country on their language. She also recommended several computer
    language programs to familiarize yourself
    with first. (can't remember any product name though)
