It seems to cost between $1700-2000, which includes the registration fee (and
ticketed workshops), air, hotel (price varies a lot city to city), meals. I go
way over the per diem for meals because I really enjoy dining out in great
restaurants. In the past I've paid for the conference myself a few times and
feel it's well worth it if you can afford it. Other times the district has
paid, and last year we went halvsies. Any expenses not reimbursed are yet
another tax deduction (hence, the expensive meals).
The conference hotel is no bargain. My travel agent can usually find a less
expensive place nearby, which is not going to be nearly as crowded.
