Teresa thanks for getting back and Merry Christmas, for a moment I
thought we lost you.
So it sounds sort of iffy about packages getting to you, but well
worth the effort to try. No reason for the kids to suffer for the
incompetence or corruption of adults running things. So pens and
paper are what I'm ready to commit to. I was also thinking of a ream
of story board paper. This is loose paper 11x17 with the top part
blank for drawing and the bottom for writing with the dotted line
rule for elementary kids. I have it for my kids at home. There are
several kinds. the half sheets, this kind and another. Do they need
writing paper? My younger son loves the letter dotted stamps, he
diligently stamps out words and traces over, he's 5 and poor fine
motor ability, but loves that he has control over the words. Do
small packages get as scrutinized as large ones do? Or ones from
some countries (America) get intercepted. Would they really want a
ream of story paper? I'd have to order that, but the other I have
available now. You know I'd contact some large corps for care
package products> two I would recommend would be BIll Gates and
Oprah Winfrey- Yes Oprah! She has a service called Angel network I
believe and easy to get to I have her info somewhere- plus I knew
three people working there- one was her personal assistant, she
worked with my husband and I could see if she's still there. I also
know someone who works for TNT (Ted Turner) and could find out if
they have something available. It helps to know people who work for
philanthropists. I also grew up with Barry Bonds and all though I
haven't talked to him in years I could find out if there is a way to
get in contact, plus Oprah is friends with Michael Jordan and his
sister who runs the Chicago Jordan fund, perhaps sports equip would
be good. Humanitarian aid might get through easier. I'll see what I
can find out, now is the best time (Christmas) to ask for donations.
Let me know because I wouldn't want to step out of bounds here if
you don't think I should try. I have a few other resources if all
else fail, thanks to everybody for the Christmas spirit and get
those packages together. Maybe some art supply companies that are
apart of the list would care to donate as well.
