Ok lets start a new controversy, Are you allowed to take field trips ????

Hi All,
New topic, discuss amongst yourselves.

I teach Art grades 1-5, in my district Specialists (Art , Music ,Library ,
and Phys Ed)
are not allowed to take field trips, due to the amount of coverage needed to
get a sub for the rest of the classes not on the field trip.
Besides the fact that I'm being pulled this year frequently, to cover for
classroom teachers that are out and not covered due to a tremendous lack of
substitute teachers.
I would love to take my kids to a sculpture exhibit, or the Art Museums.
Have any of you taken Saturday trips ??? This seems like my last resort to
get these kids exposed to the museum world. My schools have a very low number
of students who have been to the Art museum, I feel that they would really
benefit from it. They do go at the middle school level, and if they choose
Art in High School.
