*Smiling broadly* One shortcoming of the listserve process is the propensity
to drift from the original point that we may beat our own particular drum or
trot out our favored notions. I took the original statement to mean "would I
teach tracing to my art students?" Responding in a general way that I would
not teach it seems to irritate some educators. The discussion has not
produced a single reason to teach tracing as part of the art curriculum.
Granted, we are charged to promote and provide for the creative process... I
just don't see myself teaching a tracing class. Sorry.
