In my research this spring I came across the Mavica cameras that use
floppy discs for memory. (I want each child to keep a disc to record
work in progress and those 3-d works that are usually in pieces before
arriving home.) Now I know that there is a camera that will do what I
want it to do. The techies at school disagreed but when they called
the reps at Sony they discovered that I could use this camera and do
what I wanted to do. At the time the #83 which can store 20 still
pictures or 60 seconds of movement was over $800 and no one had one to
look at.
Sony has increased production for the holiday and now the model is
more readily available on the web. I still haven't found one in a
store to look at.
My question is this: Has anyone used the #83? The price ranges from
$505 to $900 for the same package. I hate to buy something that I have
only read catalog specs when I am a novice.
Has anyone had experience with an internet company called The Digital
Dog? They had the $505 price but I can't get past hold they are so
busy.
I was selected for the Governor's Teacher Award (It's been a good
year) and have $500. Need to spend by first week in Jan.
I know there are knowledgeable people on the list who can advise me
about the camera and buying on the internet which I have never done.
I used some of those sites that search for the best price. That is
how I found the Digital Dog.
Thanks for any advice.
