I'm not sure who posted the request for management techniques, so I'm just
putting this out there. I'm also not sure if I got this idea from this list
(all the posts linger in my brain and come out when I need them!). I teach
elementary students btw. I was tired of using my voice to gather all my
students' attention when they were in the midst of working, so this is what
I did. I made a sign that can be flipped from one side to the other. One
side is red and it says Look/Listen. The other side is green and says
Think/Create. I ring a bell and flip the sign to red (stop) when I need
their attention, they need to keep paying attention until I flip it to green
(go). It seems to be working well so far.
