Hey there,
I love my students, all of them, even the pains. I try to reach them all,
otherwise I'm not really doing them right. But once in a while you get
a jewel.
I can't take credit, he just showed up, Vova and his sister Katia (the
gymnast) newly
arrived from Mother Russia. I knew he did great work, I'm been saving
his first
painting for the 2000 Scholastics Art Awards. But since Brandon (my
student teacher)
has been teaching my classes, I really haven't watched Vova that
closely. But, today
I graded Art Notebooks.
What a delight, every thumbnail sketch he has done since he came to
Rosedale is
a gem. The Artist types, out there, who see them will know the images
he was studying.
When I show them to other teachers in my building and say "look at these little
masterpieces", they just don't get it, But you will. When you..........

Hey look at that, I learned how to put targets on my web pages. I know
that once in
a while you get a student like this. And our communication is limited
to pictures, hand
signals and a few words. The sad part is that he moves again soon, to
Chicago. If there
is some lucky art teacher in the windy city, let me hear from you. This
kid has potential.
