greetings and modeling clay question

Hi everyone!

First, let this lurker introduce herself. I am an artist and teacher in
Springfield IL. I teach at two parochial grade schools (grades K-8) and this
is my 4th year doing that. I'm also on the faculty of the local art assoc. and
teach drawing and painting, and work in their summer camp - this year as the
coordinator.
It is wonderful to have found this list! Thanks to all - for information,
inspiration, commiseration, food for thought, and belly laughs.

I wondered if anyone might be able to help with this: I'm getting ready to buy
some modeling clay for one of my schools. The other had modeling clay when I
started, so I've never had to order it.
How much should I allow per student at a minimum? I thought one pound. If this
makes any difference, I teach 30 kids at a time (luckily it's half that in my
other school).
Also, any suggestions as to brands?
