My system of files seems to work. I file in cabinets accoring to
thematic units. Color theory, drawing and design concepts, fibers,
sculpture, clay, etc Then to into art history: Impressionism,
Surrealism, Cubism, Realism, Romanticism,. (I usually keep the folders
in the order that they occured in history). I'm a history buff so my
units revolve around it. When the students study color theory we may
look at Henry Matisse Lady in Blue or other paintings and study them as
well as color wheels.
My problem is ordering supplies. I order supplies in the spring for the
following year and then run out of something, including money. I am
told that if I ever reserve some funds in the budget it will dissappear
so I spend all the the funds allowed right away. I teach middle school
and we have a semester rotation. Ofen times I do a unit one semester
and then run out the the supplies to do it again. Or I'll find a really
cool idea in Arts and Activities Magazine that I want to do, but can't
due to the supplies and have to wait until next year. How do you all
handle the supply ordering according to your lesson files???? I can't
afford to do all of the projects that I really want to do.
