This happened about ten years ago. I was teaching weaving, and part of my
lessons is teaching weaving is to understand that weavings are all around us
in shoe laces, clothing etc. I pass out small magnifying glasses for students
to look at their clothes to see the weave. I also encourage them to look at
magnified objects of nature such as shells, rocks, leaves, wood etc. My
tables were set up in a horseshoe shape, students were looking at the nature
objects and their clothing. On one of the back tables there were two boys
that were looking very low under the table acting kind of suspicious. I
casually walked in that direction to discover the two boys had unzipped their
pants and were inspecting their private parts. They were very intent on what
they were doing and did not know I was behind them. I leaned down, tapped
them on the shoulder, told them quietly that's not what I meant for them to
look at, they were startled, zipped up their pants, and got back to work.
After class the school nurse and I talked to them about appropriate behavior.
By the way these were first grade boys.
