binding greenware

Hi all,
To add to the thread regarding binding clay, I was on a clay list
serv (Clayart) for a while and picked this one up : to bind cracked or
broken greenware, mix equal amts of vinegar, the clay and corn syrup...these
potters referred to it as "spooze"....also talked about how it smelled
wonderful while firing ( I haven't noticed any scent! but maybe they were
using LOTS more!). It DOES work, and fires the same color as the clay. It
may be stored in the fridge, too, for a few days. I just have kids mix a
little at a time, tho. On bisqueware, I also prefer E6000.
