Sorry to hear about your loss I can tell what a caring teacher you must be to
have been so effected. Some ways that I have seen students honored
posthumously are with a scholarship, or a monetary award presented to a
promising Art senior at honors night or graduation or the art show.
Fundraisers can be held throughout the year to raise money such as bake sales
, Art themed T-shirt sales, or a bus trip to an art museum that acts as a
benefit with a bit added to the cost of running the trip to go toward the
award fund.l If you make this a yearly event your former student will be
remembered and honored each year. The parents and friends of this student will
be pleased that you all thought so much of their son or daughter to remember
them in a permanent way. A gallery established in the art area or
office/administrative area could have a piece of her work as the first entry
and therafter a work could be chosen each year from the senior art students to
be added and professionally framed as a permanent growing collection.
I hope that this helps to spark your tribute and my sympathies are with you.
