that sky thing again

Rather than continue my frustration with that blue ribbon up at the top of the
page (yes, I have explained and diagrammed and shown examples no
avail!) I simply take one class period to paint the entire paper shades of
blue, with white, purples and greens, etc., and the NEXT period to add the
ribbon of GROUND or whatever else. I am doing foreground, middleground and
background presently. We made the fish for underwater scenes, but one could
use this to eliminate that ribbon of blue 'sky' for other drawings/paintings.
This seems to "illustrate" this concept best, and forces them to see it. 1st,
2nd and 3rd graders do this for me. What do you think?
