To be perfectly fair, or unperfectly, I don't think my colleagues were
referring to the many fine competitions such as yours. And I agree on the
drunk driving issue. The younger we get them to think about that the better
chance we have of preventing them from drinking and driving. BUT there are
many organizations or businesses that inundate you with "opportunities" for
children to create posters for one thing or another. I think that their
intentions are good. They just don't realize that, if we did every poster
"opportunity" that came along, we would not have time to even address our
What we need to do, however, instead of just ignoring them, which is what I am
guilty of, is educate them to other ways that they can support what we are
doing. Which is what your competition is all about. I wish we had such an
event in our area. I know I would have no problem getting my entries together.
