Another note on skies. I teach K-5 and finally found a way to get them
to color the whole sky. I have them color the sky using a peeled crayon
on its side. They also know to use different colors in their skies like
violet, reds, yellows, oranges, also peeled and used on their sides.
These colors look better when colored with the side of the crayon rather
than the tip, at least for skies. I also got them to stop drawing
everything on the top edge of the horizon line by telling them that if
things were really standing there they would fall off (I hope I am not
teaching a whole group of kids that the world is flat!!). Carol
