Dear Wendy,
I agree with the "too much effort" theory (issue of the blue clouds). My
students act as though their whole hand will fall off when they have to
color in a sky. It tends to get scribbly looking, too. Perhaps their poor
little arms really do get too tired. When we paint skies, or use chalk
pastels, they are much more willing to create colorful, beautiful skies.
