Dear artsedneters:

I was very interested in the discussion about DBAE. In Portugal we are fighting
for increasing the theorical aspects( art criticism, aesthetics and art history
) in art education withaut losting the weight of art production in basic
education (age: 7 to 15) . As Rosa said :" Yes I believe we donīt teach
creativity, we nourish it and help
it grow and blossom".Not like "gardners" but like co-operators. I believe
creativity is a goal in education,and creative work can be objectively defined
and assessed.
I think post-modern education must have a very strong critical function , even
if art production lost time, visual thinking will growth. And the aim of art
education is a visual culture for everyone not creating artists.
