8th grade Exit Projects

Our school has opened up the 8th grade Exit Projects to all disciplines. The
project in past years involved Social Studies and finally, they've come to
realize that art, music, etc., can greatly add to the richness of the
students' work. What happens is that every 8th grader must pick an area of
research, write a thesis statement and then set out to prove it if they can.
They all must present their findings before a selected jury of their teachers,
peers, parents and or community members. They will be giving a 10 minute
presentation using the computer, live action, reading, dramatic presentations
and or any manner that they feel they can prove their thesis. They are also
responsible for a written report along with research cards, etc. Has anyone
done this type of project before and if so, any suggestions of research areas
that may be appropriate in the arts? I'm trying to build up an Internet
resource source folder. Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated.
