I think you must first define the problem in a less general sense. Is
measuring the problem? Holding the ruler? And then you might think about
your learning objectives. What can you do to modify the lesson for this
individual. If creating geometric shapes or designs is the objective,
then can this student use a pre-cut shape and trace the outline? Think
abou what is this student able to do. Also, it might be helpful to assign
this student a peer buddy; someone (who might have a free period such as
T.A.) of her own age that accompanies her to class and is a source of
help. You might talk to the administration about a formal program that
gives school credit to "buddies."
