The ideas for peace and violence awareness are great! Someone pointed
us to the Thousand Paper Cranes Network, which is a great site too! My
students will be making at least 2 cranes each, one for themselves,
one for our goal of 1000. I did this once before and never got them
mailed, so we strung them in the library around veterans day.

A friend who works in public health asked me to do posters for their
clinic. We talked about family violence, alcoholism, etc. So much pain
came from the kids that I was overwhelmed by their stories. The
posters were very powerful. If I were to do that activity again, I
would request some sort of counselor be present for the students to
talk to.
