Re: classroom vs. cart

If you are going to move from a classroom to a cart, try to get your
administrator to let you in on the scheduleing of your classes. Make sure
that you have traveling time between classes, a prep when you really need
it, and no more than three different grade levels in one day. I use my
before school time to get my morning classes materials together, and then I
like some prep time after lunch to restock the cart for my afternoon
classes. It is very stressful to teach a 5th grade then a 1st,and a
4th,then a second, and a third. It is almost as stressful to teach five
firsts in a row. Everyone has different preferences, and I don't want to
suggest that I know what is best for you. I just think that these are some
things that you should think about before you go in to negotiate your
requests. I also ask that my portable classrooms are back to back, so that
I don't have to carry materials outside any more than I have to. Good luck!
