First let me say I am very appreciative that our friends at Getty
have seen fit to sponsored this discussion group. Somebody has put
considerable time and resources into getting it going. I believe it's an
excellent open way to get ideas and issues out for discussion. I have one
small suggestion that might help it function even better.
I have noticed when I use the Reply command to respond to somebody's
idea on artsednet, I don't get artsednet in the e-mail address line, but I
get the individual who sent the original message. Unless I am careful to
change the "To:" designation to the artsednet email address, my message goes
to the individual instead of to the whole group. I am also a subscriber to
another professional group related to art. In the other group the message
Replys go by default to the whole group, and discussions keep going much
better than they do in artsednet. Often the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th writer has
much better insights than the person who started the theme being discussed.
In artsednet, I am getting the feeling that we are missing out on some great
ideas that are simply dying on the vine because they don't see the light of day.
Do others in the group also feel that our friends at Getty should
change the default Reply setting should be changed send responses to the
whole group rather than to the single individual who sent the message? If
so, please Reply, not to me, but to artsednet
Even with the default setting changed, it is still possible to
respond directly to the individual without including the whole group. One
simply has to change the message address before sending it.
