You must be a college prof., and not an actual classroom teacher; or you would
know that telling students to create art based on their own lives and culture
would be giving them permission to do their gang writing and drawings that they
would normally receive infractions for doing. I don't mean to be a wet blanket,
but as an art teacher at an inner-city school, I have found that through the
DBAE method of teaching art history relevance first, I have gotten much better
results in my students studio production.
