Re:[teacherartexchange] clean up

Date: Wed Dec 21 2011 - 02:52:04 PST

I have students keep a cup of clean water at their tables. When clean
up time arrives they should use a dry paper towel to pinch and squeeze
as much paint as possible from the bristles. A thorough shake of the
brush tip in a cup of clean water loosens the remaining paint. Rewipe
the bristles again and repeat the rinse if sink needed
for brushes....and the bristles are reshaped. I have the students
share disposable paper plates (not a green solution necessarily, but
neither is running water constantly to wash paint down the
drain....and they do sell recycled ones). The plate is folded in half
and tossed at the end of the period. I then collect all the cleaned
brushes in a clorox bottle with the top cut off. As I walk around
collecting, I can visually inspect the tables.....done in under five
