Dear Artists and Educational Theater Community -
    I wanted to invite you join us for 2 FREE Panel Discussions hosted
by the Voice
for Vision Puppetry Festival at The Theater for the New City (155 1st
Ave. NY, New York.)

The Voice 4 Vision Puppet Festival invites teaching artists and the
education community
to a free presentation that spotlights the educational benefits of
puppetry in
the K-12 curriculum and highlights programs offered by teaching
artists. The program shares the work of Brooklyn Arts Council's
Arts in Education program, and others throughout the United States.
This event will be
on Saturday, December l7, 2011 from 3:00-4:00 PM at Theater For The New
City 155 1st Avenue New York, NY
10003-2906. No reservations are required and space is limited so
please arrive by 2:45 PM.

Carol Sterling, former Arts in Education Director for Brooklyn Arts
Council (BAC) will present.
Target audience: anyone who works with young people, especially
teaching artists,
classroom, arts, special education, ESL teachers, curriculum
coordinators,
Assistant Principals, Principals, and after-school program coordinators.

At 4:30 PM there will be a panel/symposium with Ping Chong,
Theodora Skipitares, Stephen Kaplin, Robert Smythe and
Colette Searls who will address the topic: The Duality of the Puppet:
Objects of Art and Performance. We hope that you will attend and share
some of your thoughts on this topic! Space is limited to the first 70
people, please arrive by 4:15 for the panel / symposium.

   Additionally, please join us for, the last week of the Voice 4 Vision
Puppet Festival and 2 all NEW shows: Elizabeth Hara's "Senseless! A
Brick Foley Adventure," and Retta Leaphart's "Black Acre." We have 2
more performances of our children's shows on Saturday and Sunday- 11 &
1pm: Wonderspark puppets - "Little Red Riding Hood," and "I Laid an
Egg" performed by Spica Wobbe and Margot Fitzsimmons. A Puppet making
workshop for children is given between the 2 shows. And finally the
celebratory closing event: "Puppet Art Attacks Slam" on Sunday Dec
18th, @ 8PM.

   I urge you to attend these events and support your colleagues as
they present their work. Share your thoughts and be a part of the
conversation at the presentation and panel / symposium this coming
Saturday.
