Scheduled for debut late fall 2008, NAEA has been developing an all new Web 2.0 website in alignment with its 2007-2010 Strategic Plan . With our fresh face comes a new website name reflecting who NAEA members are: www. ArtEducators .org.
Input from survey results and interviews with 5,000 stakeholders that included NAEA members and leadership groups directed the design of the website, which has been created from the ground up to meet the needs of 21st century Web-savvy visitors. Artistic and visual elements have been incorporated for a fresh look and easier, more intuitive navigation. Interactive features entice visitors and enhance their website experience. Members-only Web-based benefits have been added without an increase in membership dues. All geared to provide a top-notch community of practice for visual arts educators .
Core areas of the new website reflect the four goals of NAEA's Strategic Plan:
• Learning: Focus on exemplary professional development initiatives that build member capacity to be effective educators, leaders, and advocates for art education.
• Community: Focus on building a more cohesive professional community among art educators and museum art educators through enhanced communication strategies.
• Advocacy: Focus on communicating the importance of student learning and lifelong learning in the visual arts to art educators, policy makers, parents, and the community.
• Research and Knowledge: Focus on expanding access to information on current and emerging policy issues that affect art education.
Visitors to the website will enjoy expanded content areas and interactive features like inline video, podcasts*, and free downloadable resources. News and Events has the latest information on visual arts education news, dates and links for the NAEA National Convention and regional or state conferences, and an archive of past issues of NAEA News . The Career Center -- available to all interested art educators -- provides a jobs board where job-seekers can post resumes. The Advocacy section includes opportunities for contacting elected officials, information on developments in educational policy*, and resources for voters. The Blog shares the many voices of NAEA. Shop online at NAEA Store* and purchase gifts for your colleagues in addition to popular publications and other resources. Research resources and materials are available in Research and Knowledge .
NAEA members need to connect with their colleagues . The website supports connectivity with options to participate in the online NAEA Member Directory, link to up to 100 other member profiles, sign up for a variety of interest-area listservs, and participate in online forums*.
