This is a little bit off topic, sorry. There used to be Jim Crow laws that
prevented people from marrying outside their race, or prevented marriage
with disabled people. That was supposedly to prevent the people from
passing down their disabilities. That was all part of segregation, but even
though they might have taken those laws off the books, those attitudes are
passed along from generation to generation, unfortunately. The minorities
suffer from it, but the disabled people also suffer from it. If you
couldn't legally get married because you were a different race, then people
lived togethr anyway, and they called it shacking up or common law marraige,
and some people called it prostitution. But I think that people who call it
prostitution are people who have a stake in the unhappiness of other people,
subjecting them to harassment, discrimination, driving them out of business,
making them lose their job, and it's illegal job competition or business
competition or even competition for the affection of another person. And
then the children of those unions--do you ever hear people called bastards?
You might realize that those children would be made to sit away from the
main table when the family eats its meals. They are there but they are kept
apart, raised without everything the others had. Fortunately school
teachers, in their quiet way, fight that kind of unfair treatment of
children, every day of their lives.
