This all depends on the school, principal, parents, etc.
On the whole, it is not so wise to risk your job by sharing nudes with the class. There are certain private schools I have done this at, but public schools tend to be a higher risk.
I find there are more "acceptable" nudes such as Michaelangelo's David. People are familiar with this nude and are familiar with the artist. It is a terrible shame not to share thee most amazing piece of art, our bodies! BUT, I tend to just shy away from potential crazy parents, upset school boards, and hassles.
I took a group of kids to the Norton Simon the other day and we saw nudes and it was no big deal. Nudes in a museum as opposed to nudes you bring INTO the classroom are a different story as far as I am concerned.
I teach a small class on modern art at a liberal elementary school in the summer and it hasn't been a big issue, BUT you have to keep in mind, you do not know what some children are going through at home. YOu do not know if there are body issues, sexual issues, etc., therefore they may come from a place where the body is not honored, so keep that in mind also.
Good luck. Katrina
