[teacherartexchange] Broadway Tickets and NYC info

      Several people have asked about Broadway shows and how to get
tickets. Discounts can be had at TKTS booths. The South Street
Seaport is a charming area and the booth is far less crowded than
Times Square.

Tickets are discounted. Top Broadway shows will not be cheap however
- $50-$75 if they are available at all. I paid full price for The
Drowsy Chaperone and that was $110 for a good orchestra seat
matinee!

Be careful. Don't purchase tickets on the street from ANYONE. There
are terrible scam artists out there who are happy to ruin your
trip. TKTS tickets are guaranteed.

Be flexible. Read about all the plays that attract you online first
and have five choices that you would like to see.

Off-and Off-Off Broadway tickets can be very inexpensive and the
plays interesting. I have seen several plays this year for $15.

Subscribe to Time Out New York or purchase it at your big
international magazine store. B&N and Borders Books should have.
Read the magazine which is young-focused (don't purchase the Kids
version however) It has reviews of every play and museum and
gallery and music venue. You'll quickly get the flavor of culture
in New York City.

    TKTS ? Times Square Theatre Center
           is temporarily located just outside the New York Marriott
Marquis hotel on West 46th Street, between Broadway and
Eighth Avenue (read about this)

Hours: Mondays, Wednesdays,
       Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
       for 8pm perfs: 3pm - 8pm

Tuesday?s from 2pm - 8pm

       Wednesdays and Saturdays
       for 2pm matinees: 10am - 2pm

Sundays for matinees:
         11am - 3pm
       Sundays for evening perfs:
       3pm TO CLOSING

TKTS ? Lower Manhattan Theatre Center at South Street Seaport
( the corner of Front and John Streets, the rear of the
Resnick/Prudential Building at 199 Water Street )
