I am looking for a new art education text to use with my Elementary Ed. majors. I have found that the texts designed for future art teachers do not always work with those folks going into elementary education.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Thank you for your reference to Emphasis Art....that was my "bible' for
learning how to teach almost 25 years ago....a GREAT book. I passed
that book off to our new rookie art teacher last year. It's a fabulous
reference for benchmark artwork, media tips, project ideas,
developmental levels, classroom management...everything you need to get
started as a new teacher. And it is a classic. It never goes out of
style. Don't miss the still life collages by 2nd grade, in particular,
2-2's collection. Look for Christie's little made up still life that has
a purse, a candle, and some flowers on her printed tablecloth. Quite
the romantic for only being 7, lol, and it is stunning. There are a lot
of really great ones in there. The 3rd still life was from observation,
the 2nd still life was from imagination, kind of Eric Carle style.
