Re: An alternative to teacher gifts

Date: Tue Dec 23 2003 - 06:06:41 PST

OH, I love those gifts to charity given in my name. One awesome parent
funded a whole year of education for an African girl named Helena. I
have her photo and information about her, which is amazing. I got
goosebumps when I opened it. She wants to be a chef. I received
several other gifts in my name for toys for tots, and a school for
learning disabled children. Those are so nice. I have no idea how to
get the message to parents. We all feel this way. There are so many
really useful and more appropriate ways to thank a teacher than food,
food, food.
I've said things to people in the LS office, but they just sort of shrug
their shoulders and say they don't know how to tell them either.
